TPL logoIn conjunction with the Troy Public Library's rebranding efforts, the library will be launching a new website, troypl.org. We have focused on making the user experience as seamless as possible. Utilizing a responsive design, the new website will look great and function properly, regardless of the device you use. Our current site will automatically re-direct to the new site once the site is launched. Keep an eye out between now and June 1 for a brand new look!

Take your language learning everywhere you go for free with Mango Mobile, now available for iPhone and Android and exclusive for Troy Library patrons!

Whether you’re killing time at the laundromat, waiting for your flight, or conversing with locals on an exotic adventure, Mango Mobile makes the world your classroom.

Mango Mobile apps include:
o    Full access to Mango courses offered for free through your library*
o    Interactive phonetic spelling
o    Semantic color mapping
o    Articulated and fluent-speed pronunciations
o    Literal translations and understood meanings
o    Grammar notes
o    Cultural notes
o    Strategic memory building exercises
o    Critical thinking exercises 

            
To start learning from your mobile device, download Mango Mobile Library Edition for iPhone/iPod or Android and login with your Mango Languages username and password.

For the apps to work, you must first create a Mango account on a desktop computer. Next, download the app to your iPhone/iPod or Android device, enter your Mango Languages login information, download a course, and start learning at your own pace with or without an Internet connection!

Learn a New Language with Mango

Accents are sexyLearning a new language with Mango Languages is free for all Troy Library patrons, and offers a fast and convenient solution for our community’s increasing language-learning needs. Each lesson combines real life situations and audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions. The courses are presented with an appreciation for cultural nuance and real-world application that integrates components of vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and culture. Users learn actual conversation, breaking down complex linguistic elements within an audio-visual framework that draws important connections and builds on information they have already learned.

There are more than 60 foreign language courses available and 16 English as a Second Language (ESL) courses.
